Top 10 ways to market your newly designed website

10 ways to market your newly designed website

As a personal branding photographer, my clients usually come to me as they begin the design process for their new website. A new website requires a lot of fresh content, from new brand photos to new messaging and more refined targeting. That’s a lot of hard work that deserves to be seen.

Trust me, I just revamped this one, so I know what an undertaking it is.

So here are the top 10 ways you can get more traffic to your new website in 2023.

SEO Optimization: Make sure your website is optimized for search engines by including relevant keywords, meta tags, and alt tags. This will help your website show up in search results when potential customers are looking for businesses like yours.

Use keywords that reflect the language your customers use to search for you. Avoid using industry jargon that only people in your industry would understand or use regularly.

Use location keywords as part of your photo alt tags and descriptions to help your page rank for local search results.

Social Media Marketing: Use social media platforms to promote your website and engage with your target audience. Share links to your website on your social media profiles, and create social media campaigns that encourage followers to visit your website.

A great way to do this is to use an app like Link Tree or to create a stand-alone web page in Canva that links to different areas of interest on your website. You can link your home page, a main sales page, or a recent blog post. The goal is to move people from your social pages to your website to build traffic.

Content Marketing: Create valuable and relevant content that will attract and engage your target audience. This can include blog posts, infographics, videos, and more. Share this content on your website and social media platforms, and use it to drive traffic to your website.

Free downloads are a great example of value-based content that easily drives traffic to your site and also helps build your email list.

Keeping a regularly updated blog, with SEO-rich text, will not only keep your audience engaged but will also help search engines see that your website is current, allowing it to refer users to it more readily.

Email Marketing: Build an email list of potential customers and use it to promote your website. Send out regular newsletters and promotional emails that include links to your website.

Email marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. One of my favorite ways to use email marketing is simply to update my audience that there is a new blog on my website. Three or four lines of text and links make it an easy-to-open email because my audience knows they won’t have to read my life story every time and if they’re interested in the content they can go straight to my blog.

Co-Marketing: Partner with other business owners in your network to promote each other’s websites. Colleagues in adjacent industries, that have the same or similar target markets can help you reach a wider audience and increase brand awareness.

As a photographer, my natural co-marketing partners are web designers (of course), makeup artists, hair stylists, social media managers, and more. When you all work together to help each other reach your goals, the road is much easier.

PPC Advertising: Use pay-per-click (PPC) advertising to drive traffic to your website. Platforms like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and Instagram Ads can be used to target specific audiences and increase visibility for your website.

Guest Blogging: Reach out to other websites and blogs in your industry and offer to write guest posts. Include a link to your website in your guest post, and use it to drive traffic to your website.

This is also a great way to build authority in your industry.

Public Relations: Use public relations to promote your website and increase visibility for your brand. This can include reaching out to media outlets for coverage, issuing press releases, and more.

Referral Marketing: Encourage existing customers to refer their friends and family to your website. Offer incentives for referrals, such as discounts or special promotions.

Networking: Attend networking events and conferences in your industry, and use them as an opportunity to promote your website. This can include handing out business cards with your website’s URL or even creating a brochure that highlights your website and its features.

There are so many techniques on this list I have yet to try, but for the ones I have used, I can say that they have helped my website rank on page one for the last 5 years and I am more than happy to keep using those strategies and then some.
